What happened
Around 7 p.m. on November 30, 1973, a light of non-uniform appearance, with variable speed and direction, was observed over Caselle airport. According to the wire dispatches picked up by the French press, the control tower alerted the pilot of a private aircraft on approach to a stationary object at an altitude of about 400 meters, also visible on radar; the pilot described it as a large luminous sphere, the crew and passengers of an Alitalia flight that had just taken off saw it, and the commander of the military airport confirmed the observation. In the archive published by the Italian Air Force, the case, reported by a civilian pilot and by Air Force personnel, is cataloged as OVNI with the standard formula used for all the archive's entries, with no mention of radar or other details.
