Unexplained
- What happened
- At 18:48 on January 6, 1995, the two pilots of a British Airways Boeing 737 arriving from Milan, at about 4,000 feet over the Pennines, saw an object pass at high speed along the right side of the aircraft: the captain described it as covered in small lights, the first officer as a dark wedge-shaped object. Manchester control saw nothing on radar. The Joint Airmiss Working Group judged hang gliders, ultralights, military aircraft and models very unlikely, concluded that the object remained unidentified and classified the risk and the cause as not assessable.
