Claim · E-007

Luis Elizondo: Claims to have left the Pentagon in protest against internal opposition and the lack of resources, and to look for an environment in which investigating these phenomena was the top priority; in 2019 he writes to the DoD that he left purely out of frustration, as the resignation letter allegedly shows.

Luis Elizondo · Dec 2017 · The Washington Post and a New York Times request to the DoD (December 2017); letter to the DoD press office of June 5, 2019 (Article)

Disputed

The second resignation letter supports the frustration account, but other documents from the time and his own book point to different or concurrent reasons.

In support
The letter of October 4, 2017, written at the time of the resignation, complains of internal opposition to research on anomalous aerospace threats.
Against or denials
According to Reid's memorandum, the first letter (October 3, 2017) requested the immediate termination of the employment relationship without giving reasons; according to The Black Vault's reading of the memoranda, he told his superior of a job offer requiring immediate availability and told Reid of family stress; in the book Imminent (SuperSummary summary) he recounts that he needed money and accepted a position at To The Stars Academy.
