- In support
- In the evaluation of the Star Gate program commissioned by the CIA from the American Institutes for Research (September 1995), statistician Jessica Utts concluded that, by the standards of other scientific fields, psychic functioning had been well demonstrated.
- Against or denials
- The same evaluation concluded that it remained uncertain whether the phenomenon had been demonstrated and that remote viewing had never produced information used to guide intelligence operations; the second reviewer, Ray Hyman, disputed Utts's conclusions. Elizondo's participation in a program of this kind remains undocumented.
