Luis Elizondo: Calls the Wall Street Journal investigation of June 6, 2025 into Pentagon disinformation and the false “Yankee Blue” briefings absurd and in bad faith, maintaining that it seems orchestrated by the usual circles of the DoD, which by his account deceives the public, Congress and the president; a few days earlier, on NewsNation, he had acknowledged that the government has at times used false UFO stories to cover experimental technologies.

Luis Elizondo · Jun 2025 · Podcast with Matt Ford (reported by Jason Colavito on June 10, 2025) (Podcast)

Opinion or hypothesis Funding, secrecy, Congress

Unverifiable

The accusation of an orchestrated operation is not supported by public evidence, while the facts reported by the newspaper have only partial confirmation.

In support
A FOIA request (September 2025) found no trace of the 2023 memorandum that, according to the WSJ, halted the false briefings; in September 2026 Christopher Mellon called the two articles one-sided and full of errors; Ross Coulthart called the report a joke.
Against or denials
In June 2025, Pentagon spokeswoman Susan Gough acknowledged the “pranks” described by AARO, explaining that they would be included in the second volume of the historical report, which does not appear to have been published in the sources consulted; the investigation reported statements by former AARO director Sean Kirkpatrick.
