Official position · S-020
The Pentagon stated that AARO had not discovered, up to that point, verifiable information to support the claims about the existence, past or present, of programs of possession or reverse engineering of extraterrestrial materials. The wording, attributed to June 2023, is documented with certainty around the July 26 hearing and in the July 28, 2023 update.

What it denies and what it leaves open
It concerns only what AARO has found “to date”: it does not claim to have examined all special access programs, does not name Grusch or address his specific allegations (programs, companies, places) and does not touch on his complaint of reprisals.
- Original words
To date, AARO has not discovered any verifiable information to substantiate claims
- Who disputes it
- Grusch maintains that AARO does not have access to the information he provided to the ICIG and the Intelligence committees; Christopher Mellon observes that many witnesses do not trust AARO and did not want to speak to it.
- Concerns
- David Grusch
