Funding: from not knowing the figures to billions a year
Weight: Substantial
- First version
- Jul 26, 2023 · Under oath he speaks of misappropriation of funds and of financing through the contractors' internal research funds (IR&D), but when asked about the amounts he answers that he does not know the precise figures. Official transcript of the July 26, 2023 hearing in the House of Representatives (GovInfo, CHRG-118hhrg53022)
- Second version
- Jun 9, 2026 · At the press conference at the Capitol he claims to have found, in the course of his investigation, slush funds worth billions of dollars a year. Fox News, Grusch and the billions in secret spending hidden from Congress (June 10, 2026)
- Analysis
- The shift from not knowing the figures to billions a year is explained if Grusch received new information after the hearing, for example while working for Burlison (2025-26); the 2026 statement, however, traces the discovery back to his own investigation, without saying when. On September 30, 2026, on Joe Rogan's podcast, he added that corrupt officials allegedly used human trafficking, including of minors, and perhaps drug trafficking to fund the black budget: a category of accusations that is new compared with the white-collar crimes he spoke of in June 2023. No accounting document or public judicial action confirms them; according to UAPRAD, the review of the DoD's 2025 budget shows no funds diverted to UAP programs, an observation that is not, however, a specific verification.
