Claim · E-021

Luis Elizondo: Reports that an official involved told him that he knew it was he who directed AATIP, but that forces inside the Pentagon were telling him not to admit it; also maintains that some bloggers were told that he had no duties in AATIP and that AATIP did not study UAP.

Luis Elizondo · May 3, 2021 · Complaint to the DoD Office of Inspector General (May 3, 2021) (Document)

Hearsay Funding, secrecy, Congress

Unverifiable

It is based on a private conversation with an unnamed official, with no public corroboration.

In support
In May 2021 the DoD publicly acknowledged that AATIP dealt with UFO research (Politico), a sign that its earlier line had been different; the DoD's wording on his role went from a statement of no responsibility (June 1, 2019) to one of no assigned responsibility (June 13, 2019).
Against or denials
The text and date of the DoD statement according to which AATIP did not concern UAP have not been located; until 2021 the DoD maintained the formula that he had no assigned responsibilities in AATIP.
