Claim · E-031

Luis Elizondo: Writes that the object filmed at Aguadilla (Puerto Rico) dove into the ocean, presenting it as an example of “transmedium” movement between air and water.

Luis Elizondo · Aug 20, 2024 · Book “Imminent: Inside the Pentagon's Hunt for UFOs” (HarperCollins, August 20, 2024) (Book)

Opinion or hypothesis Sightings, video, sensors

Contradicted

On November 19, 2024, AARO director Jon Kosloski presented to the Senate an analysis according to which the Puerto Rico case probably involved two balloons or lanterns moving at about 7 knots, not an object diving into the sea; the report of the Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies cited by supporters reaches different conclusions.

In support
The UAP Files blog (favorable) refers to the report by the Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies (SCU) on the case.
Against or denials
Mick West attributes the apparent dive to a parallax effect and considers it likely that they were lanterns; according to West, the book also gets wrong the aircraft that shot the footage (a plane, not a helicopter).
