“Peers” in the book, “senior ranking person” in Congress
Weight: Substantial
- First version
- Aug 20, 2024 · In the book Imminent, according to The Debrief's review, he does not explicitly attribute the direction of the program to himself and describes the other members as his peers. The Debrief – review of Imminent, August 22, 2024
- Second version
- Dec 19, 2024 · In the written answers to Congress he presents himself as the “senior ranking person” of AATIP, that is, the highest-ranking person in the program. Elizondo's written responses to Rep. Burlison's questions for the record, December 19, 2024 (copy hosted by the New Paradigm Institute)
- Analysis
- The two formulations are not necessarily incompatible: one can be the highest-ranking member of a small informal group and consider the others peers, and the book went through the DOPSR security review. The register, however, changes within four months and, in the institutional setting, emphasizes his role; no public document clarifies the internal hierarchy of the AATIP activity.
