Did he know TTSA would publish the videos?
Weight: Substantial
- First version
- Oct 2017 · In the launch video of To The Stars Academy he announces that the company intends to release never-before-published footage from real U.S. government systems. Memorandum for Record by Garry Reid (OUSD(I)), late December 2017 – FOIA 22-F-1322, released April 2, 2024
- Second version
- Jan 2021 · In an interview with The Black Vault he says he was very surprised that TTSA had the videos and that he did not know they would be published. The Black Vault – the Pentagon memoranda on Elizondo (resignation, AFOSI, videos), June 23, 2023
- Analysis
- The 2017 announcement is recorded in an official document (the Reid memorandum) and precedes the publication by two months; packages bearing the label “L Elizondo” were found on Christopher Mellon's server, and Mellon did not want to rule out Elizondo's involvement. An innocent reading is that his surprise concerned the channel through which TTSA obtained those specific videos or their publication in the New York Times; taken literally, however, the 2021 statement conflicts with the 2017 announcement.
