Craft: has he not seen one, or can he say it only behind closed doors?

David Grusch

Weight: Minor or formal

First version
Jun 2023 · In the NewsNation interview, according to a press summary, he says he has never seen a craft in person and that his information comes from dozens of credible insider sources. Higgypop, summary of Grusch's claims in the NewsNation interview (published in 2025)
Second version
Jul 26, 2023 · Under oath, asked whether he has seen a craft, he answers that he must be careful in describing in that setting what he has seen in person and that he can answer behind closed doors. Official transcript of the July 26, 2023 hearing in the House of Representatives (GovInfo, CHRG-118hhrg53022)
Analysis
The sworn answer implies that there is something to say behind closed doors, whereas in June he reportedly ruled out having seen a craft. The two statements can be reconciled if what he saw in person involves images (under oath he said he had examined satellite imagery of unexplained cases) and not a physical craft. The June source is, moreover, a summary published in 2025 by a paranormal news site, with quotes that may be paraphrased and an interview date that is unconfirmed. Press reports of the hearing (NPR, Roll Call) summarize that he had seen neither craft nor bodies in person.
