Claim · G-026
David Grusch: Asked whether the government possesses UAPs, he answers “absolutely,” based on interviews with more than 40 witnesses over four years.
David Grusch · Jul 26, 2023 · House hearing, Oversight Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs (Hearing)
Under oath Hearsay Legacy program and recoveries
Disputed
The sworn answer rests explicitly on others' testimony, none of which is public, and conflicts with AARO's conclusions on recovered material.
- Original words
Absolutely, based on interviewing over 40 witnesses over 4 years.
- In support
- Senator Rubio (June 2023) said that the intelligence committee had received firsthand accounts, possibly from the same people cited by Grusch; Jay Stratton, first director of the UAP task force, claims to have seen non-human craft and beings with his own eyes (2025-26), without public evidence. Stratton is an executive producer, with Elizondo, of The Age of Disclosure and in October 2026 published the book “Out of the Shadows,” from which a television series is in development (The Debrief, September 24, 2026): professional and commercial interests that the reader should be able to take into account.
- Against or denials
- The AARO FY2025 report (July 2026) again rejects the claims that the government holds recovered UAP material; of the 262 contacts from people who say they have direct knowledge of government programs, 255 were judged out of scope and 7 selected for interviews, with the outcome not public.
