“Yes” under oath, but based on hearsay
Weight: Central to credibility
- First version
- Nov 13, 2024 · Asked whether the government has conducted secret retrieval and reverse engineering programs and whether possession of bodies was discussed, he answers “yes” under oath. Transcript of the hearing “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena: Exposing the Truth”, House of Representatives, November 13, 2024
- Second version
- Nov 13, 2024 · In the same hearing he specifies that bodies were discussed anecdotally at the Pentagon, that the collection took place before he was born, that he knows only reports of the retrieval of biological material and that he dealt more with the performance of the craft than with the occupants; in the written answers of December 19, 2024, he admits that he does not know, for lack of direct knowledge, how Lockheed established the non-human origin of the material. - Analysis
- It is not a contradiction in the strict sense: the “yeses” answer closed questions put by House members and the clarifications make clear that the basis is secondhand, while the document he says he signed allegedly prevents him from going into detail. The tension lies in the form: categorical answers under oath rest, by his own admission, on the accounts of others, and in the sources consulted there is no statement in which he claims to have seen craft or bodies in person.
