- At the House task force hearing of September 9, 2025, Rep. Nancy Mace said it was known that this had been done to Mr. Grusch, referring to the dissemination of his personal information. In August 2023 the journalist Ross Coulthart maintained that the county sheriff had denied providing the documents and that the leak came from the intelligence community.
- Against or denials
- The Intercept (Ken Klippenstein, August 9, 2023), which published the police records, writes that it obtained them with an ordinary public records request to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office, through its public records officer, and published the correspondence with the office. According to unofficial accounts (see G-050) Grusch's lawsuit against that office was dismissed in August 2025 and the court reportedly found the release compliant with public records rules; the order was not consulted.
